As my lover utters my name softly,
His voice shattering,
I'm being told that it's ending.
Watching him cry,
I smile as I tell him,
We had our momentary forever.
As I gaze out of the window,
I watch a leaf slowly descending.
Spring is ending.
By the time autumn ends,
I'll be long gone.
As I lay on my deathbed,
In this deafening silence,
I reminisce over my life,
Like it has already ended.
I realise,
Slowly but surely,
Everything ends.
For that is the hideous beauty of life,
And I have come to terms with it.
